Our Team:
We believe that our presenters and staff are the face of the event. We therefore carefully choose our staff and presenters, and set high expectations for them. We ask them to model the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and consent practices - even when "off duty" (e.g. not presently presenting, performing, working, etc.), We also expect them to recognize that as a presenter or staff member they have inherent social power, often implied or perceived, especially in the context of new connections or in scene negotiations and expect that they employ a high standard of discretion and mindfulness.
Concations events have different needs when it comes to presenters and staff at our various events from year to year. Staff and presenters are typically paid by a small package discount and other perks (see below). Our flagship events are Kinky Caribbean (www.kinkycaribbean), Swinkation (www.swinkation.com), and Kinky Cruise (www.kinkycruise.com).
Please understand that we are a small company and we typically do not have paid full or part-time open positions and do not typically have positions that are full "comps" to our events. Most of our staff and presenters pay their own way and attend and enjoy the event and receive discounts and perks for their time.
Our Staff Team:
We usually have a number of staff at our events. Being on our volunteer staff team is usually pretty easy and a low-burden role. It generally won't prevent you from attending the workshops and event activities that you want to attend.
For some events, we have larger management level roles that involve help both during and prior to the event.
Some staff roles are hybrid presenter and staff positions.
Typical onsite staff duties may include set up/tear down (which is minimal for our events), check-in, event & workshop staffing, play space monitor, and other general assistance as needed. While staff roles vary, most staff typically don’t put in more than 4-8 hours over the course of the week depending on what the role is, the needs of the event, and how many staff are present. But that could basically mean just being present at an event or workshop you were already planning to attend anyway.
Exact duties of each staff are discussed and agreed on prior to booking. Staff get discounts and sometimes other perks. Discounts typically start at $200 per person and range to (although rare) a full event package comp and/or airfare, but can vary depending on the role.
Staff can be fun! Another added perk is the ability to meet people on the staff team prior to the event and during the event at our staff meeting! We have found that most staff members want to do it again the next year.
Staff can also earn commissions on registrations that they influence using an individual promo code as a promoter affiliate, currently $150 per double room)
If you would like to discuss staff possibilities, please message us at support@concations.com.
Our Presenter Team:
Our events typically have a large number of presenters. Please note that while we sometimes have a small number of full event comps for presenters (e.g. cost neutral), we typically are not able offer full comps for our events for most presenters. Rather, most presenters are attendees that want to teach or perform (usually 1-4 workshops) and be paid for their time while there, but otherwise enjoy the event and a vacation.
Presenters also might participate in other ways, including:
• Performances
• Hosting events like Kinky Olympics events, kinky speed dating, ice breakers, etc.
• Some presenters assume dual roles as staff and presenters.
• Some of our presenters also schedule paid private sessions (teaching, etc.). While presenters are generally not be able to charge for their event workshops, they are e able to teach private lessons and charge directly for those.
Affiliate Commission:
All presenters may also become a promoter affiliate and earn commissions on registrations that they influence (currently $150 per couple). Presenters get a promo code worth $75 off per person, and the presenter then gets $75 in commission per person, which ends up being a $150 commission per double room booked or $225 if it is a triple room.
Presenter Compensation:
Presenter compensation is typically in the form of an event package and room discount and/or paid airfare. Unfortunately, the high costs of our resorts and cruises make it impossible to do full comps in most cases with a few exceptions for event hosts or headlining presenters. However, as we also prefer to curate a diversified group of presenters from year to year, for those offering host level full comps, we may limit that to two consecutive years.
Presenter offers that typically include a discount on your double room package, but may also include airfare and some other perks like comped excursions, bus transfers, and event or presenter t-shirts. The discounts typically range from $500-$1200 per room, but can vary depending on a number of factors. Each offer is customized.
Some of factors we consider in selecting presenters include:
• The number and intensity of workshops they will be teaching
• The needs of the event (e.g. the need for a diversity of topics and the types of workshops we need)
• The potential presenter's alignment with our core values and the ability to model them
• Other proposed contributions, e.g. additional participation such as performances, event hosting, staff roles, etc.).
• Influencer potential and whether the presenter is interested in helping promote the event and has the time and ability to do so.
Applying to Be a Presenter:
If you would like to be considered as a presenter for our events, then please provide the following information as it would help us understand better how you might fit in:
• Proposed Workshop list and/or subjects that you would like to teach
• Other ways that you wish to participate (performer, staff, event host)
• Bio, including teaching and lifestyle experience
• Past events where you have been a presenter, staff, host, or performer and your roels and what you taught
• Video and/or photos of any performances (if applicable)
• Social media pages and websites (including as applicable FetLife, X, SDC, Facebook, Instagram, BlueSky, tik tok, etc.)
• Your interest, willingness and ability to assist with event promotions and influence registrations as a commission-earning affiliate. A large social media falling and/or email list is helpful.
• Your needed minimum compensation structure, if applicable.
